Our love story written by my Aunty Tonia.

When Bret’s and Jamie’s lives’ collided in 2013, it took them by surprise.

Bret was fitted out in 70’s inspired party gear. She was not prepared to meet a man who immediately stirred in her an instant attraction. In fact, she was mortified that she had opted for the late 70’s look, sporting big frizzy hair and knee high boots. Jamie on the other hand, was in babysitting mode, arriving to look after his friends children while Bret went out to party. He did not expect to be blown away by a hot, leggy girl with a beautiful smile. There were sparks chaotically flying without hitting their mark as each tried to focus on their task at hand.

While fate had the right idea, there was no time for love to blossom; but seeds were sown and Bret’s and Jamie’s love story started with a slow burn …. a very slow burn.

For it was not until two years later that they next met when preparing for a mutual friend’s wedding. That slow burn was replaced by lightning bolt love. Bret could hardly contain the flutter of butterflies she felt when watching Jamie move furniture, his guns on display! Jamie was very taken with Bret’s beauty and happy outlook and he was aware of the intense chemistry between them.

They were so attracted to each other that each brought out a secret weapon to move things to romance. Bret relied on advice from her mother on how to make a man know you were keen. A gentle touch on the upper arm was a sure thing and so Bret put this into action just before Jamie was about to make his best man’s speech. It didn’t help much with his speech- the electricity he felt just made him even more nervous.

Bret fell in love with Jamie on their second date at his family’s fake Christmas dinner. She saw a man who was loyal, loving, respectful, kind and compassionate as he interacted with his family.

Jamie knew he was in love with Bret when away on holiday they shared a weekend together sick in bed. What could have been a holiday spoiler was actually a highlight, spending time looking after each other and laughing at themselves.

And that romantic love became unconditional love. Jamie proposed to Bret 2 years later while out on their boat with their puppy Max. 1 year later they married at Gilgara in Margaret River.

2. I never wanted to do a first dance or cut the cake but they were my favourite things to do on the night, such beautiful moments shared with your new husband/wife.

4. Being left alone to talk about the day while getting photos on the beach, our photographer let us have some time by ourselves that was very special.

Tips on planning your wedding / getting married

Always remember that a wedding is to celebrate your Love, do what you want not what everyone expects you to do!

Dare to be Different – we didn’t want your typical Aisle wedding so we created a circle ceremony which was perfect. Our celebrant helped create this so it worked smoothly and turned out perfect

Have a rehearsal so everyone knows their job, involve your family too it’s so special to have them apart of it.
