Our Real Bride Katie

We loved Katie's wedding, and  wanted to share with you all, her magical day. We asked her a few questions about her wedding. We hope you enjoy reading as much as we did!

 

Where you first met?
We first met in Brazil 14 years ago. Marcos is Argentinian and was on holiday. I was backpacking with friends. We only met twice but stayed friends through email, then facebook (when it was invented). In 2014 I went to visit him in Argentina and after my one month holiday there, I came back and he decided to move to Australia so we could be together.

When did you know it was love?
We fell in love talking to each other for the several months before I went to visit him. On the car ride from Buenos Aires to his house in the mountains we talked about how we felt and I knew I really loved him.

The proposal?
On the balcony of our apartment on a Thursday night while eating BBQ (the least romantic part of our story). He rang my parents from Denmark, Europe where he went to work for a few months to ask if they were happy before the proposal which was very sweet.

Your dream wedding?
We had a garden party with the finest food and wine with cushions, couches and fairy lights, lots of flowers, etc . We wanted something casual and fun but with amazing food and wine (which is important to us). I thought that the older guests might be disappointed that it wasn’t more formal, however they raved about the food and how fun it was for months after. My great aunt said ‘’usually at weddings you get sat at a table with all the old people that you don’t know and it is really boring but that was the best wedding I’ve ever been to”. Our ceremony and reception was in the garden and we didn’t go for formal photos because we didn’t want to miss a second of the day. My married name is Bellini so we served peach Bellinis while the guests waited for the ceremony to start. It was very relaxed and happy.

On the menu and catering
Gourmet tapas and finger food, selection of Argentinian and Australian wine, Italian prosecco and champagne, whiskeys and port. Each guest was given a handmade wooden paddle with wine glass holder to use and keep.

Two tiered marzipan fruit cake and chocolate mudcake.
