Our Real Wedding of Lucy + Mark at Leeuwin Estate. Advice from the bride herself
Posted on 12 October 2017
Mark and I met on a night out as university students. We’d grown up living a street away from each other, but we’d never met!
We got to know each other when a mutual friend insisted the boy I thought was “cute” join us on a trip we had planned with a group of friends down south. Fast forward 8 years, and Mark proposed to me at the house we were holidaying in with friends, almost 8 years to the day.
We were married at my family’s winery, Leeuwin Estate, in Margaret River. This is such a special place to me, and some of my earliest memories as a child involve me tearing around “the farm”. My parents, as well as my aunties and uncles were all married here.
We had beautiful autumn weather on our wedding day – not a cloud in the sky and the most incredible amber-tinged light.
Our wedding itself was a celebration – we had friends and family from all over the world join us. It was such a happy occasion and it all came together perfectly.
I’d been told the day would go by so quickly (it does!), so I made a point to take mental snapshots throughout, so I could remember it clearly.
Your wedding is such a special day. My advice to any brides-to-be is to enjoy every moment! You’ll radiate happiness and everyone is there to celebrate you and the love you share with your partner.
