Our Real Bride Leah
Posted on 12 March 2017
Last month we posted a short feature on Leah and Brian on our Facebook and Instagram but their wedding photos and proposal story were simply too beautiful not to share in full with you here.
Leah looked ethereal in her dress and told us afterwards that she felt like a real life princess on her wedding day, which she should have, she looked absolutely stunning and couldn't hide that million dollar smile as she said “i do” to the man of her dreams.
So without further ado, here is the story of Leah and Brian's Paris engagement in her own words.
This one still gives me butterflies.

“The proposal? Romantic, amazing, thoughtful and a total fairy tale!! It was 2012, and Brian and I had been together for 8 years. So the pressure to get married was pretty intense from family and friends (and from me too). Brian is not one to be rushed, and insisted he wanted to do it right, in his time, and his way.
In October that year, we had just returned home from a 10 day holiday in Brisbane to celebrate my brother’s wedding. Brian told me that in 4 weeks, we were going on another holiday. Brian would not tell me where we were going, or for how long. I was told to go shopping to buy:
- Clothes for about a week for temperatures between 5-11 degrees;
- Waterproof walking boots (I came home with suede stilettoes..oops); and
- An evening dress for cooler weather.
Obviously the above items were strange to be buying for a holiday in November, so I guessed it was not somewhere close to home. Brian had already organised my annual leave with my work, and contacted the College of Law to re-schedule all my assignments to be due after my return.
We arrived at the airport, checked in our bags, and as we were handed our boarding passes the attendant said “All the way through to Charles De Gaulle”. I burst into tears. We were going to Paris!!
We spent our first full day in Paris exploring, and taking in the sites of this beautiful city. It was Remembrance Day. The Champs Elysees was lined with French flags with the largest flag hanging in the centre of the Arc De Triomphe. We watched the sun set from the top of the Arc De Triomphe and made our way to the sparkling Eiffel Tower.
It was looking out over Paris at night while on the Eiffel Tower when Brian dropped to one knee as asked me to be his wife. I believe he stole a line from the Richard Gear movie Shall We Dance and said that my life won’t go unwitnessed because he will be my witness.
Brian did not stop there, he had already had a lock engraved for us to put on the lock bridge, took me to see the Moulin Rouge show, and to Disney Land. Brian also treated me to my very first pair of Louboutin’s!
Apart from our wedding day, it was the best time of my life….well worth the 8 year wait ;-)”
