Georgia & Mitch's Sacred Heart Church Wedding

A match made in heaven, Georgia + Mitch! Georgia, we loved every minute spent in store with you & when we first met you at the Matilda Bay wedding open evening with your beautiful family. I even met your amazing Dad, he was so proud of ALL of you! You came into our boutique with a vision & we were so excited when we were able to make your dreams a reality. Thank goodness for the beautiful fitted, modern, crepe dress that Pronovias designed for 2020 brides. It was truly, meant to be. Bridal appointments can be one of the best parts of wedding planning and I am thrilled that you enjoyed your bridal journey with us. Stay in touch!

Love always, Sam xx

THE DRESS "I always knew I wanted a wedding dress that was timeless and elegant but also had a wow factor. When I was browsing Instagram one night I found an image of a Pronovias dress that fitted my brief. It was fitted, had some of the back cut out, had straps - there was no way I was going to have a strapless dress and be hitching it up all day and night, a nice long train and buttons at the back ending at the end of the train. Samantha Wynne was my one and only bridal shop. I tried four gowns on the first time I went with my bride tribe, still dreaming about the Pronovias gown that was not in store that day. A few weeks later I received a phone call from Samantha saying the gown will be in for one day. In between night shifts I gathered my bride tribe and we went to the store and oh my goodness it was magical. Samantha is amazing, as much as she is the owner - we went from being strangers to friends and when I had to go back to the store she was always so warming and friendly. She made all my bride tribe feel very comfortable and was accommodating with bridesmaids alterations."

CAN YOU REMEMBER THE MOMENT YOU KNEW IT WAS THE DRESS? "As soon as the dress zipped up - I knew it was the one. It fitted perfectly and I had my ‘say yes to the dress moment’. I remember my sister was coming from work and I got to surprise her in it and we jumped up and down like little school girls. Champagne was popping and it was just the best moment. It felt very special that the first wedding dress I ever wanted was the one I chose for my special day. After speaking to some friends they said they walked out with completely different dresses than what they thought."

HOW DID YOU FIRST MEET? "Talk about out of my comfort zone. We were set up through a mutual friend after I had discussed at work that I was ready to find my prince charming. I began the conversation, we chatted for a few weeks. Then I thought he was ignoring me because he hadn’t replied for days. Problem solved when we found out my phone was having issues. Mitch booked our first date 27th January 2017. This is when I had my first and only blind date. I remember I did a drive by the restaurant to see if Mitch was there and he was - one word - OMG."

THE PROPOSAL "There were a couple of times I had already called Mitch my husband and we were not engaged yet (oops haha). We had discussed our wedding ‘one day’ but never the finer details of rings etc. We had planned a holiday to Melbourne (where Mitch was born) and a few girlfriends had mentioned what if Mitch proposes. I shrugged it off because we had not spoken about our engagement or wedding in so long and I always find out surprises (snoop through the house looking for gifts haha). We had hired a car for a couple of days and drove to Mornington Peninsula. It was a wet and windy day. We stopped for lunch and at one point I noticed Mitch touching the grass but again did not think anything of it. We ended up at the beach and there was a jetty. Mitch thought it would be nice to walk along it, water from the ocean spraying up at us. I started taking a photo of the colourful beach shacks, I turned around and Mitch was down on one knee."

FAVOURITE MOMENT "I loved our wedding day so much. I was that excited my sister and I were awake from 4:40 in the morning haha. One comment that I was receiving many times was how calm I was. I think this comes down to planning and taking time to get jobs done. It is stressful wedding planning but I promise it is all worth it in the end. I remember flooding Mitch with vendors or ideas and he knew once we had locked things in, it wouldn’t consume us as much. Also, calm to the point that we had booked a 12 seater Chrysler booked for our wedding transport and a 20 seater Hummer limousine collected us - this was a big laugh on the day as it was not expected at all."

THE VENUE "Our ceremony was at Sacred Heart Church in Highgate. I fell in love with this church when I was driving down Mary St - so beautiful and simple. Our reception was Rambla on Swan, South Perth. We wanted to have a venue central for our north and south guests along with good food, drinks, vibes and scenery. I took Mitch to lunch at Rambla on Swan one day and it ticked all our boxes."

FAVOURITE DETAILS "I loved our wedding day so much. We did not have a wedding planner and it was so rewarding seeing what we had planned come to life. We made our own seating chart, menus that were also place cards for our guests - the simple things that when you look back you think - wow we did that. The colour of the bridesmaids dresses by Shona Joy was a light champagne colour that complimented my dress, elegant and timeless as well as the bouquet colours. Speaking of bouquets - my goodness if you need a florist - A Little Bohemia is worth a visit - Amy and Kelly listened to every single idea I wanted and nailed it. Especially my bouquet- yes I jumped like a school girl the day of wedding when Amy dropped it off - 25 white long stem roses!!"

ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES "I am very much planner and like things to be finished and organised and be as stress free as possible. I purchased a wedding planner book from Lala Designs (Perth based company) and this helped me so much with timeline planning right up to the day and everything in between. I am also very old school (not environmentally friendly) but I would write on paper everything Mitch and I wanted out of the day and planned from there. From looking on Instagram to google search for vendors and having conversations with them before 100% committing. It is a good idea to shop around and do not settle just for pricing etc. At the end of the day you only have this day once so you want it to be perfect. You want you and your partners personalities to reflect your big day as well- so choose vendors that you clique with and understand you.

I am probably not one for dress advice because I literally saw one dress on Instagram and bought that. But if I have to recommend anything - keep your list short, trying on different styles at the beginning is good so you can see what suits your body shape, but you don’t want to confuse yourself either. You want to be comfortable on the day too!! Also, choose who you take to your dress shopping wisely - you want your bride tribe to support you and want what you want and also have fun doing it."

BEST WEDDING SPEND "Our photographers were amazing!! We opted to have a second photographer - so worth the money. We received a sneak peek the next evening of our wedding and if that was just a sneak peak - Mitch and I can not wait to see what else was captured. We tossed up a videographer as people say the day goes so quick and it is good to look back on videos. I must admit, Wild Feather’s Creative have captured some moments so well that I do not regret a videographer. I think this is also because from the moment I woke up to finishing the night- everything was just so super calm and I was able to take in every single moment."
