Arian & Ryan's Rottnest Island Wedding

Arian and Ryan’s Story - I hope you all enjoy this beautiful blog.

Many thanks to Eric Ronald for allowing the rest of Arian & Ryan's suppliers to share his photography. I loved having Arian & her family in my store. At her fittings it was gorgeous how much she loved every detail & stitch on her wedding gown. I feel very special, having played a very small part of your special day. All my love. Sam xx

First Met (2010)

Ryan and I first met about 8 years ago. I was heading out with a group of friends to The Cott (Cottesloe Beach Hotel), to meet up with one of my best friends from primary school that had moved to Brisbane and was over in Perth visiting. It just so happened that Ryan was also heading out to meet with the same friend, Tamsyn. They had met previously on a European Top Deck Tour. Tamsyn had invited all of her Perth friends to The Cott to catch-up and it was there that we first met. After meeting and having a few chats, Ryan decided he would like to meet up again and asked for my number. Only thing was his phone was dead so he had to put my number in his friend’s phone and this was how we had to keep in contact for the next few days.

First Date (2010)

Over a few texts and a call, we organised our first date. We were to meet at Clancy’s Fish Pub Applecross for dinner. I arrived super early (very unusual) so decided to go for a little drive around, then got lost. I was then late for our first date. Luckily Ryan was still waiting out the front when I arrived.

Engagement (2015 October 9th)

It was a lovely sunny Friday and Ryan asked me if I would like to go out for a drink after work in Cottesloe. When we got there Ryan asked if I would like to take a walk along the beach. We walked for a while then I wondered what he was doing pausing and wondering around the same spot. He then pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him. Sun setting over the beach just near the spot we first met, I say yes.

Wedding (2017 September 23rd)

Our wedding weekend started out a bit rocky when we were on the way to the Rotto ferry terminal only to find out all ferries for the day had been cancelled, due to terrible weather. Which has not happened in 7 years. We went with the flow, and with help from the Rottnest Island Wedding Coordinator, headed to the ferry the next morning, morning of the wedding. When we turned up I could see my flowers, the cakes, photographer, friends, family and mum holding onto my dress which she had taken extra care to wrap up water tight to save from rain and sea spray. Once on the Island I was so excited to start getting ready for the big day. One of the moments I was most looking forward to, was putting on my amazing Samantha Wynne gown. It made me so happy whenever I tried it on and there was no exception on the day. Due to the not so predictable weather we had decided to change our ceremony venue only the day before to The Basin bay and thank goodness, the rain held off for the entirety of the wedding. Ryan described one of his favourite moments of the day was seeing me arrive to the ceremony and walk onto the beach as his bride. Cancelled ferries, missing luggage and sporadic weather couldn’t dampen our spirits. We had the best time on our wedding day, committing to each other, adventuring around the island, dancing up a storm and celebrating with all our friends and family, and also a few quokkas. It went so fast but was such an amazing day, definitely a day to remember.
