Katie & Aaron's Exmouth Wedding

Today we're introducing SW bride Katie and hubby Aaron, who's enviable Exmouth wedding will have you guys who love beach weddings in awe! Katie & Aaron's wedding is the perfect inspiration for brides who are in love with the boho look that is currently trending. Katie & Aaron's beachy theme also extends throughout their whole love story, even to when they first met! Katie and Aaron met on a fishing charter boat in Coral bay which Aaron was working on and had an instant connection, but more of that down below! Read on for more of their love story, how Katie had no intention of buying her dress in-store but ended up finding the one, and this gorgeous couple's absolutely stunning wedding photos.

THE DRESS  "I was looking for something more casual, fitting and easy to wear. I tried a total of 3 gowns. I loved Samantha’s willingness to help me even though originally I was open about my intentions to buy online."

CAN YOU REMEMBER THE MOMENT YOU KNEW IT WAS THE DRESS? "I was down from Exmouth for one day only, my sister and I walked in on the off chance I could try something on to see what style I liked so I’d have an idea of what to order online. Samantha allowed me to try on dresses between appointments. After a brief conversation with her, she told me she has the perfect dress for me, I tried it on and instantly knew I found my dress. I tried 2 more on to make sure but then bought it on the spot."

HOW DID YOU FIRST MEET? "I was 22 in 2011. I am from the UK and arrived in Aus on Aaron's birthday (obviously he did not know me at this time). I was backpacking with my sister and friends. I would meet him 3 weeks in to being in Aus. Aaron was a deckhand on a fishing charter boat in Coral bay. I paid to do a day trip on the boat, he was clearly chatting me up. He later came to our campsite and cooked the fish we caught that day for my friends and I. Over the next few days fishing charters were cancelled for various reasons and I kept extending my stay, he took me snorkelling etc., until a week later when he had to leave on a week's charter out at sea, he asked me to leave my number at his place and he would call me when he returned in 1 week to 10 days time. I returned to Perth when a couple of days later to my surprised he would call me, “Hello darling, do you know who this is?” I of course did. (He had called his friend from a satellite phone out on the boat to get my number from his place to be able to call me because he wouldn’t wait :-))"

THE PROPOSAL "It was my 30^th birthday, my first son was 3 and my newborn was just 2 weeks old. We were having a picnic on the beach and trying out my new paddle board Aaron got me. A couple of our good friends turned up, I assumed they were there to say happy birthday and meet my new son (we had only just returned from Perth as you can't have babies in Exmouth). As Liana took pictures of my new born and chatted to me I could see what I thought was pink tissue paper flying down the beach, I was trying to be polite with talking to her but I kept yelling out to Aaron about it, he then called me over – they were pink petals – with all other native flowers on the ground, our amazing talented friend James Abberly singing and playing guitar and Liana captured the entire thing on video. Aaron got down on one knee."

FAVOURITE MOMENT "The bridal pictures, having that time out from a busy day and being with friends. And having so many important people in your life make such an effort to be there, help out, give their time. People's generosity with skills, time and money bought me to tears so many times!!"

FAVOURITE DETAILS "I loved my dress, I am not that keen on traditional wedding dresses, I did not expect to find one I like. I am so glad that we went to Samantha!!"

ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES  "Definitely recommend our photographer, You Me and the Sea Photo, and James Abberley for live music - he does all up the coast. Both were amazing! There were no DJs where I lived so I set up Spotify on my phone, unfortunately it didn’t work so friends jumped in and played from there music. I would had preferred a DJ but beggars can't be choosers."
