Mistral & Brendon's Mallorca Wedding

Highschool sweethearts Mistral and Brendon travelled to Mallorca for their destination wedding. These two met in high school when they were 13, started dating when they were 15, and have been together ever since! Read on for their beautiful engagement story and the moment Mistral knew it was the dress...

THE DRESS "I thought I was looking for a lace dress with a low back. I went to 3 bridal shops and tried about 12 dresses on. My Samantha Wynne gown was so different to anything I had in mind/had seen. When Samantha first showed it to me I just smiled and said, "Sure ill try it," but it didn't look like much on the hanger. When I put it on and stood in front of the mirror I had the biggest smile on my face and my mom was beaming so knew it was the one! It was really comfortable despite it being a fitted dress due to the great quality fabric."

CAN YOU REMEMBER THE MOMENT YOU KNEW IT WAS THE DRESS? "I walked out in the dressing room to see it in the mirror and my moms face lit up, I was taken away with how beautiful it was."

HOW DID YOU FIRST MEET? "We met initially when we were 13 years old through mutual friends. We started dating when we were 15 years old and have been together ever since :) We went to school together for our final two years of high school and moved to Australia when we were 19 to start university."

THE PROPOSAL "He proposed 2 days before our 14 year anniversary. He took me completely by surprise as I didn't know he had been secretly saving for the ring. We were saving for a house so I didn't even suspect it. We were staying at crown towers for the long weekend as Ed Sheeran was performing. The night of the proposal he tried to take me down to the river for a romantic spot (I of course was unaware) but I had other plans as we had been given free drink vouchers for the lobby bar :) He eventually proposed in the hotel room overlooking the river at sunset. I was completely surprised and he had chosen the most beautiful ring for me!"

FAVOURITE MOMENT "This is such a hard question as I loved every minute of the day. I had my 5 brothers and sisters together for the first time in 6 years so that was a special moment for me. My bridesmaids only saw the dress the day of the wedding so seeing their reaction was great! Finally meeting Brendon at the end of the aisle was amazing! We had a family friend who had arranged for us to go into the private gardens of the church which is where we found the most beautiful cliff for photos."

THE VENUE "To agree on a location for the wedding was the most tricky part given we have family all over the world but as soon as we decided on the location the venue was easy as we had the reception at my father's house which is actually where we went on our first holiday together."

ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES "We spent money on the most incredible photographer and invested in amazing planners - essential for a destination wedding. Take someone you trust dress shopping and just enjoy it. Finding vendors was easy. We are so lucky with Instagram and facebook groups - plenty have great suggestions. Brendon made a spotify playlist of the music we like which helped the DJ know our style as we didn't actually meet with him prior to the wedding! The DJ came highly recommended by the planners and he was fantastic."

BEST WEDDING SPEND "Chef - we had the most incredible food and beverage package. The food was fantastic and was something all the guests commented on. We had a great wedding planning team - they were worth their weight in gold! Planning a destination wedding was made easy by using them."
