Rebecca & Ryan's St Matthews Church Wedding

Rebecca & Ryan, childhood sweethearts. A magical day indeed. Rebecca, I was thrilled to play a part in your wedding day. Your love story is so romantic and what fairytales are made of. I couldn't have imagined you wearing any other style of dress. Dreaming of a cloud of tulle skirt and one of the richest lace bodices, it was perfect for you. It was a gorgeous classic princess dress. Looking forward to seeing what your future holds.

THE DRESS "I tried on about 5-6 dresses prior to having my dress created for me. I wanted certain parts of one dress and other parts of another dress, which lead to the decision to have my dress designed by Samantha Wynne. I loved the quality of my dress. I was extremely comfortable in my dress and I didn’t feel the need to hide any insecurities as the dress made me feel like a Princess. I had the sparkle that I wanted along with the big princess skirt. I couldn’t have asked for a dress more perfectly suited to me."

CAN YOU REMEMBER THE MOMENT YOU KNEW IT WAS THE DRESS? "I knew my dress was the dress when I tried it on, fully finished, with my Mum, Nana, and Sister in the room. As I put it on, I instantly felt like a bride. When I walked out into the room with my family, I saw the big smiles and tears on their face. We all knew that Sam, Anne and the team had created an absolute masterpiece that was definitely the dress for me."

HOW DID YOU FIRST MEET? "We were in Year 7, Ryan was 12 and I was 11. We were in the same class in Middle School. I always remember this super tall dude in the back of the class that was always making his friends laugh when they were meant to be working. I immediately was welcomed in to the friend group and we all became best friends (and most of us still are!). Ryan and I started “dating” in Year 9 but things got real serious when we graduated high school and after our second year at University, Ryan asked me to marry him with the blessing of my Mum and Nana."

THE PROPOSAL "After my family knowing Ryan for so long as we grew up together, they had already accepted him as part of the family. After Ryan asked my Mum and Nana (the two people who mean the absolute most) to marry me, he planned a massive day that involved going to Penguin Island and seeing my favourite animal. However, the weather had different plans and as we were making our way there, they cancelled all tours. Instead, Ryan thought on his feet and took me to multiple places for a day filled with fun and laughter. We finished our day at Wanneroo Botanical Golf, where I managed to fail at the simple task of Mini Golf. Ryan kept disappearing throughout the game of Mini Golf, which made me suspicious of what he was doing. I had no idea he was trying to find the perfect place to propose to me. Ryan remembered me saying how much I loved the big beautiful bougainvillea tree in the middle of a secluded garden. As we walked past the beautiful tree again, Ryan began with how much I mean to him and how much he cannot wait to see what our future holds. It was then Ryan dropped on to one knee and asked me to marry him. Obviously my answer was YES!"

FAVOURITE MOMENT "One thing that never failed to make us laugh was our bridal party. For a group of people who some barely knew each other, they got along so well and gave us some really good belly laughs. Our photographer, Yoram Conradt, kept us laughing throughout the day also which made us feel so relaxed and calmed any nerves we had. Our friends and family kept us on our toes especially on the dance floor! Seriously, I never knew some of our friends and family had such wicked dance moves! Haha!"

THE VENUE "We went to almost every bridal day opening for venues; assessing packages, locations, accommodation availability, pricing/value and overall look of the venue. We happened to stumble upon an open day for a brand new hotel thanks to my Mum finding it on Facebook. As soon as we got to the 18^th floor Rooftop Ballroom of Aloft Perth (based in Rivervale), we knew that was the venue we wanted. We do not regret our decision of choosing Aloft. It is one of the most breathtaking venues with about 270* views of the river, city and surrounds. I highly recommend Aloft and the wedding coordinator Janine. Everything from the room, food, drinks and service were amazing!"

FAVOURITE DETAILS "My favourite details were how everything that we chose seamlessly fitted with my dress, our venue, our colour scheme, the groom and groomsmen suits, bridesmaid dresses, etc. As you saw everything together it just looked amazing and simply breathtaking. I loved how we managed to get all the senses going for the day! The flowers smelt amazing as soon as you walked in the room, the colour palette suited the venue and décor which was beautiful to look at, our DJ had music for every occasion (from instrumentals during the pre-dinner drinks to dance-floor anthems for later on in the night), and all the finishes provided by Aloft for the tableware was of amazing quality."

ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES "We were really glad that we had a full time schedule for the whole day that was provided to each vendor to allow for everyone to be on the same page. We also chose to have indoor fireworks for our entrance to the reception, which was a last minute addition. We did not regret this! When dress shopping, take who you want to take with you. If you want everyone to come with you, then do that. I took the people I wanted to be there, including the mother of the Groom and multiple family members. I don’t regret doing that because they are all who I wanted to be there. You have to remember it is your day and your journey  Choose multiple dress shops too and try on dresses you wouldn’t normally try on! Sometimes it can be quite entertaining to try on different dresses! I was so so happy that I managed to get a Samantha Wynne gown as I knew Sam would provide me with the perfect dress and I am forever grateful for that! When choosing vendors, make sure you do your research. Go on some Facebook Group Pages, and ask heaps of questions. It is definitely worth shopping around until you find the perfect vendor. Speak to vendors at functions, events and weddings. Go to as many wedding open days you can and ask as many questions as you need! We had a wide variety of music thanks to our amazing DJ, Eden. He had a meeting with us prior to the wedding and asked us for all our songs that we wanted for each special moment of the day. We also asked Eden to take requests on the night that allowed different people to get up and dance when their favourite song came on! Eden managed to make each song fit seamlessly after another which allowed the dance floor to be constantly full! We were extremely happy with our day and vendors. One thing that kept us so chilled on the day was the advice that no matter what happens or goes wrong throughout the day, only you will know that something has gone wrong because you’ve planned it. At the end of the day you will be married to your partner and surrounded by those that mean most!"

BEST WEDDING SPEND "We do not regret the money we spent on our reception or our photographer. Our photos are something we are going to have forever and we are so very blessed to have had Yoram capture our day. Our venue, Aloft, did not disappoint and was definitely the perfect venue for us."
