Sarah & Dan
In the lead up to our wedding day everyone told us how quickly it would go. I knew it would go fast but in all honestly it just flew by; one minute I was waking up with my Maid of Honour and the next lying down next to my husband! Dan and I loved every minute of our day and the lead up as well - we felt so privileged to have so many special people there with us to celebrate and it has been such fun reliving the day with them all. So many people have commented how happy we looked and we WERE - so excited to be married and then having an amazing party with everyone we love!
Dan and I are super organised so the planning was relatively easy. We started by outlining what we wanted and then focused on that in our planning - we wanted our wedding to have amazing food and wine, great flowers and for it to be fun - for all our guests and for us as well!! It was everything we thought it would be - and more. Even with some minor hiccups - one of our wedding cars didn't turn up (the boys had to Uber to the church) and red wine being spilt on my dress (thanks to my amazing ladies there was no sign of it 5 minutes later) it didn't matter because we were married and having too much fun!
Being a June wedding we were prepared for any weather but it was such a glorious day - I had fretted about needing a jacket because I would be cold but the sun shone and I was definitely not cold! I started the day with a walk to the coffee shop near mum and dad's house with my family and my maid of honour - mum proceeding to brag about it being 'the big day' to anyone who would listen at 7am! Cat for Cat Elizabeth Artistry and Rochelle from the Pretty Parlour arrived shortly after and the day just seemed to disappear from there. I was much more relaxed than I thought I would be - but it helped that everyone around me was so relaxed too - hanging out in our pyjamas at mums being fed cups of tea and snacks! James our amazing photographer arrived just as Cat and Rochelle were finishing and so then it was into the dress and things started getting real! I felt most nervous getting into the car and then arriving at the church but as soon as I saw Dan waiting for me the excitement took over!
People often ask what the best bit about the day was but there are too many to tell. I did love a few quiet moments with my new husband while we were getting our photos taken (a few of the only quiet moments you get during the day), having some drinks with just the bridal party right before we entered the reception, and then looking around and seeing the whole wedding dancing on the dance floor!
I can't recommend the people who were involved in our wedding highly enough. Rob from Simply Entertainment was our DJ and read the crowd so well! Tess and her team at Paper Fusion Boutique did such amazing work on our invites and then 'day of stationary'. Cat (from Cat Elizabeth Artistry) is a make-up goddess and just the loveliest lady. Rochelle from the Pretty Parlour is a gem and was able to interpret what I wanted from 20 different pictures and made it look fabulous. The boys were fitted out by Penguins and would highly recommend them! Ashley at Guild Hall is one of the best - from the moment we met her she was so helpful and attentive. Guild Hall is such a unique venue, it's gorgeous and when you put it with the amazing food from Propellor and Ashley's organisational skills we were just blown away!
James Simmons just won AIPP wedding photographer of the year (when you see his pictures you'll know why)! He is an absolute master and makes you feel completely comfortable which really shows in our amazing pictures. Plus he and his second shooter Olivia are just awesome people so it was such a pleasure having them as part of our day!
My very closest friend Nat from Wild Flos did us the honour of being our florist and travelling from Melbourne to share her flawless skills. Her work was breathtaking. Her creations and styling at Guild Hall were like nothing I could have imagined and I cannot thank her enough.
And to Sam - you made me comfortable the moment I walked in and this only continued every time I saw you. I especially remember you telling me 4 days before the wedding when my dress wasn't fitting "it's all ok, I've got this" and I felt so at ease, I knew you indeed 'had this'! I only wish I could wear my dress every Saturday night!
